Making sure that my organization stays up to date with all of the regulatory requirements. I was able to help conquer this by utilizing all available resources, such as HIMSS, the advisory board, the CMS site and other resources. The key to making these new regulations successful was to find ways to incorporate them into the clinicians’ existing workflows.
This year, we shifted our annual Alabama HIMSS Chapter conference to take place virtually in conjunction with the New England, Mississippi, and Southern California chapters.
Health information and technology is a great industry to be a part of and is never boring. You must be organized, flexible and ready to work hard, but it’s a very rewarding career.
I would go back to the 1990s when my mother, father, and son were still alive and be sure to make the most of those relationships.
My favorite book is "Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit." My favorite movie is "The Matrix."
